See what a I did there 😉 any film buffs PLEASE 😛
So this may be another packing tips post, but I hope it brings you a few extra tips from my travels and what items helped me out when moving around the world
Okay so I am a pretty rubbish girl when it comes to packing, my friends would say they don’t know how I pack so light, other will know that I hardly have any makeup or beauty regimes so that saves half a case full 😊
I am the queen of light packing, but like all girls I love choices when it comes to outfits, below are the top 25 items I take when travelling – 1 week to 1 month,, even 1 year DON’T FORGET THESE THINGS!!
Also if anyone has further ideas for me please let me know always up for new things to find room for!
Top 25 things to pack;
PLEASE DON’T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT OR LOSE IT! A lot of visas need to be completed before leaving for the country, use the link below to see which countries need what VISA’s and information …. Just as important is travel insurance! don’t go skiing without knowing you are covered, same with scuba diving and bungee jumping!
2. JABS
Some travels will require certain jabs, especially if your going to more rural parts of the country. See below the link to the website which says which jabs to get for where in the world – https://travelvaccination.co.uk/recommended-vaccinations/
3.ADAPTERS
for all things electronic, try to get the double adapters now available so good for multitasking! 🙂
4. PORTABLE CHARGER
1 should be enough to charge one thing and save space within your case/ bag, but 2 if you can fit it and need it
5. EARPLUGS AND EARPHONES
Hostels room + 16 beds = LOUD, do I need to say more 😊 – Also great for a little bit of quiet time on planes when you really need to sleep
6. DIARY/ JOURNAL
Not just to document my travels but also is great for keeping papers/ receipts/ postcards or any other paper I need safe. It also means if I ever just need a piece of paper to remember something, write an address down I have some!
7. FIRST AID KIT
Necessity when going on long travels, – painkillers, – paracetamol, – diarrhoea tablets, – insect repellent, – plasters , – cold and flu tablets… Every country has pharmacies if needed
8. UNDERWEAR AND UNDERWEAR BAG
Easy to carry around if washing is needed, as well as a necessity to have enough for the weekend/ 2 weeks/ or even month long trips
9. COMFIEST HOODIE
I recommend this on any journey, perfect in so many ways for so many things… Pillows, blanket, mouth mask when on an air conditioned flight, cushion for hard seats, oh and just a jacket for when it turns cold at night ofcourse
I normally get my from Primark from the mens section – cheap, soft, and a little better fitting to make it comfy
10. WATERBOTTLE
Ideally metal so its longer lasting and better for the environment than a plastic one. This also great where many countries have running water, and fresh water fountains around the cities to save some pennies
11. SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER
Small, portable bottles are better for travelling and a lot lighter than the big plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles. It would be useful to fill up smaller sized bottles with your hair products if you find you’re running out of space in your backpack.
12. MICROFIBRE TOWEL
Towels can take up a lot of room. So, ideally buy a large microfibre towel that takes up less room (like these cute ones from https://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/microfibre-towel) . Most hostels don’t provide towels so remember to bring yours.
I use mine as a beach towel too – saves room all round!
Last use AND MAJOR TIP – when in a hostel I sometimes use the towel as a curtain to quickly get ready if I am on the lower bunk or use it as a little bit of privacy when you just need some form of barrier to chill alone
13. FACE MOISTURISER
The heat and cold can really dry out your skin so use your moisturiser every day – especially when flying will really help feel more human! I always use nivea (thanks mum) you can cute little travel containers which last 4 – 6 weeks from Boots or superdrug
14. PADLOCK
The last thing you need to remember. Once everything is packed, lock it with a padlock to ensure your things are safe. You’ll need this padlock in the hostel too to keep your valuables safe. Also may come in handy if you rent bikes etc
15. UMBRELLA OR MAC
I always find the wind makes me completely soaked anyways so MAC will protect your face and body more , you can get some that roll really small into a bag from all outdoor shops
16. MOBILE PHONE/SPARE CHEAP PHONE FOR EMERGENCIES
Get yourself a SIM card that works abroad, after a trip to the USA my phone bill was 100 pounds! my dad nearly killed me… this will help with costs and quick use when needing some wifi
17. COMFY SHOES
18. – TOOTHBRUSH AND SMALL TOOTHPASTE
Electric toothbrushes are quite heavy so if you find you’re running out of space, opt for a normal toothbrush instead. These don’t require a charger either so saves even more space.
If you’re travelling with friends, my tip is to share toothpaste, so you don’t end up with a toothpaste tube each!
19. DAY BAG
Instead of carrying huge rucksacks around sometimes all I want to do is have a cute little zip up and securely fasten bag to make it easier and quicker to move around but still safe from pick pocketers
The best backpack at the moment – This one – no front zip for security, water proof, clever side pockets, and the finish is perfect for any outfit! https://pierrebuy.com/collections/womens-bags-backpack/products/multifunctional-dual-use-ladies-backpack-travel-bag-116026
20. CLOTHES – ALL ABOUT THE LAYERS
I hate being to hot, so my big tip is to layer up, layer up on planes, layer up when packing instead of one huge thick coat, have several different jumpers, jackets, and tops that will provide warmth but can be adapted to just the t shirt or just the long jumper to be sorted for all possibilities!
21. SCARF
Pillow on planes and in hostels, extra warmth layer, to cover head and shoulders in a religious location out of respect, as you can see scarves can be very useful!! Don’t forget one! Even better buy one when your on your holiday.
22. SUNCREAM AND LIP BALM
Soooo important! Dry lips not good! Burnt skin even worse, have different SPF’s for different countries depending on how strong the sun is and how sensitive your skin (mine becomes lobstered within 1 hour of being in the sun! )
23. SWIMMING COZY AND GEAR
Never one to want to miss out on a dip in the sea, always make sure you have at least 1 swimsuit ready for fun times. It also helps if there’s communal showers in any hostels
24. PJ’S
I have forgotten these so many times, and ended up wearing a tshirt and leggings… So don’t forget some long or short sleeves and bottoms for whatever weather you may face. Don’t want to go starkers now!!
25. OPEN MIND
Most importantly, have fun, make friends, talk to everyone, be friendly and enjoy the experiences your about to have on the travels! Open minds open great opportunity!
So these are my top 25 for all trips, any country, more to come on specific trips later ;)… this is also just my opinion, no right or wrong answer to your comfort
Happy travels!
